1978
Establishment of the Department of Computing

The precursor of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering was the Department of Computing, formerly under the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.

1985
Later, the Department of Computing was separated to form the Computing Center.​

In 1985, the Department of Computing was separated to become the Computing Center.

1993
Establishment of the Faculty of Computer Science

In 1993, the Faculty was officially established under the original name Faculty of Computer Science, and was later renamed to Faculty of Information Technology.

2007
Renamed to the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering

In 2007, the Faculty was restructured into what is now known as the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, in response to the growing demand for high-quality human resources driven by the country’s development.
