MASTERS IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Master's program in Computer Science, conducted at the Faculty of Computer Science & Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, provides foundational knowledge in the field of Computer Science and specialized skills in areas such as Data Science, Network Security, and Software Engineering. The program aims to supply highly qualified human resources with in-depth expertise in Computer Science and related fields, contributing to the enhancement of research capabilities and the development of science and technology to address scientific and practical challenges both nationally and internationally.

After graduation, master's graduates trained in Computer Science will meet specific requirements as follows:

  1. Have sufficient knowledge and skills to solve problems in the trained field.
  2. Have a proper understanding of professional ethics.
  3. Have an awareness of leadership skills.
  4. Have the ability to continuously develop their careers in the future.

Program Learning Outcomes

The Program Learning Outcomes (PLO) include standards related to knowledge, skills, levels of autonomy, and responsibility of learners, specifically presented in the table below:

Training Duration

The training duration is 2 years. It can be shortened to 1.5 years for students who have completed equivalent courses in the undergraduate program (the shortened training duration will be determined by the Department/Division managing the specialization for each specific case).

Knowledge Volume

The total knowledge volume for the entire course is 60 credits. For more details about the training program, please refer to [link].

Admission Target

Right field – Appropriate major

Candidates must have graduated from a regular university program in Computer Science (52480101) or related majors with suitable training content.

For candidates graduating from university programs not listed in the Ministry of Education and Training's list of university programs or those listed but with a different name and code than the Computer Science major, but having similar training content to Computer Science, the university's admissions council will review and make a decision.

The closely related majors

Candidates who graduate from regular undergraduate programs in the following fields are considered closely related to the Computer Science major:

52480102 Communication and Computer Networks

52480103 Software Engineering

52480104 Information Systems

52480201 Information Technology (*)

(*) Information Technology (belonging to the Information Technology group) and Computer Engineering (belonging to the Electrical, Electronics, and Telecommunications Engineering group) are also considered closely related majors due to the similarity in the training program content. For candidates graduating from university programs not listed in the Ministry of Education and Training's list of university programs or those listed but with a different name and code than the closely related majors mentioned above, with training content close to Computer Science, the university's admissions council will review and make a decision. Candidates from the mentioned closely related groups must self-supplement knowledge to meet the requirements of the entrance examination for the Computer Science master's program at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology.
