UNIVERSITY - COMPUTER ENGINEERING MAJOR

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Computer Engineering program belongs to the field of Computer Science and Information Technology. The goal of the Computer Engineering program is to train high-quality individuals who are capable of designing, building, and deploying software and hardware systems for computers and control devices to meet both domestic and international needs. Specifically, the program focuses on training students who can design, implement, and fabricate circuits using various technologies. Graduates of the Computer Engineering program are also equipped with the necessary knowledge to pursue postgraduate and doctoral studies in the field of Computer Science and Information Technology.

Computer Engineering is an engineering field that intersects with both Computer Science and Electronics. In addition to computer-related issues such as programming, software design, computer networks, and operating systems, Computer Engineering also involves hardware and circuit design to develop software applications for specialized computing systems. For example, facial recognition on platforms using smart home devices or air quality monitoring with Internet of Things (IoT) technology, low-power sensors, and cloud computing. Particularly, in the Digital Circuit Design specialization, students can focus on the design process and implementation of circuits using various technologies, thereby mastering the circuit design work.

Currently, students pursuing the Computer Engineering program can follow the following directions:

  • Modern computing systems: students will delve into knowledge and skills related to computing systems such as high-performance systems, embedded systems, configuration-load systems, and circuit design used in applications such as artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and bioinformatics...

  • Internet of Things: Students will deepen their knowledge and skills related to building systems based on the Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, such as autonomous systems, environmental monitoring systems, automated control systems, and network security systems, including network attack prevention, anti-fraud on networks, and securing network systems...

  • Digital VLSI Design: Students will explore, research, and practice with world-standard microchip design tools and use advanced testing equipment. Annually, exemplary design products created by students can be brought to participate in microchip design competitions both domestically and internationally or support the fabrication of experimental prototypes through partnerships with universities and research institutes abroad.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Since 2008, the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology has been developing two educational programs, Computer Science and Computer Engineering, according to the ABET accreditation standard. This is a standard for engineering and technology programs widely applied at universities in the United States. In 2014, the Computer Engineering program became one of two programs of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering to achieve ABET accreditation, making it one of the first two programs in Vietnam to do so. Through the process of developing the curriculum to meet ABET standards, the quality of both the Computer Engineering and Computer Science programs has been enhanced to international standards. Graduates from these ABET-accredited programs are widely recognized by companies and organizations in the United States.
