SPECIAL FEATURES

Since 2008, the University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City has been developing two Computer Science and Computer Engineering programs according to ABET standards. ABET is a standard for engineering and technology programs widely applied in U.S. universities. Since 2014, both the Computer Science and Computer Engineering programs have been officially accredited by ABET. Until now, these are the first and only programs in Vietnam accredited by ABET. Through the process of developing programs according to ABET standards, the quality of both the Computer Science and Computer Engineering programs has been elevated to international standards. Graduates from these ABET-accredited programs will be widely recognized by companies and organizations in the United States.

FACILITIES

  • Students enrolled in the Computer Science program study in classrooms that are upgraded and invested in annually. These classrooms are designed according to the TCVN 3981:1985 standard and are equipped with teaching and learning aids such as projectors, screens, audio equipment, etc. Many rooms are equipped with modern computer systems to support both students' learning and instructors' teaching.
  • In terms of practical experience, students will practice in specialized laboratories designed for areas such as programming, algorithms, networking, and distributed systems. For course projects and graduation theses, students can participate in research laboratories like the Advanced Computing Laboratory, High-Performance Computing Laboratory, IoT-UTS Laboratory, Renesa Laboratory, Network Security Laboratory, and Data Science Laboratory.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

  • According to recent statistics, 100% of graduates from the Computer Science and Computer Engineering programs at the university secure employment or continue their studies within one year after graduation. The starting salaries for graduates from this field are among the highest in the engineering sector. Many alumni from the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering are working for major global technology companies (such as Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Amazon,...) as well as local companies (such as VNPT, Viettel, VNG, Zalo, FPT, KMS, TMA, Global CyberSoft, Mobifone, Marvell, Bosch, Renesas, Intel Vietnam,...). Among them, many hold significant positions in leading domestic technology companies. In addition, alumni from the Faculty are also working in various countries around the world, especially in the USA, Europe, South Korea, Australia, and Singapore.
  • Job opportunities may include participating in Artificial Intelligence software applications, IoT, and Big Data projects, designing software, and building applications in various fields and platforms. Graduates can also manage and secure computer systems and networks, work in software outsourcing companies for international markets, and participate in information technology projects.

PARTNERSHIPS AND RECRUITMENT

Every year, the Faculty organizes various activities to connect businesses with students: Business Meet-up events to link the Faculty with businesses, provide information, and gather feedback; Job fairs are held to bring together businesses seeking talent, etc. In addition, all students are required to participate in off-campus internships (students intern at partner companies during the summer semester). Furthermore, the Faculty also organizes numerous extracurricular activities such as seminars, academic competitions, company visits, and alumni meetings.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Every year, the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering receives numerous scholarships funded by dozens of major companies in the technology industry, such as Sky Mavis, KMS, Sacombank, and the alumni association. These scholarships are awarded to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, those with excellent academic achievements, and female students in the Faculty. Each scholarship includes courses and financial support ranging from 500 to 2000 USD per award, with opportunities to receive jobs or internships at these companies.

EXCHANGE SCHOLARSHIPS AND FULL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDIES

The postgraduate exchange and scholarship programs include scientific research support with funding for students, trainees, and PhD candidates, the University of Danang-HCM’s postgraduate scholarship program, the Vingroup Innovation Foundation scholarship program, the Taiwan Business Association in Vietnam’s postgraduate scholarship program, the Vallet, Pony Chung, Toshiba scholarship programs, as well as the Erasmus Mundus exchange scholarship program to universities in Europe..

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

In addition to learning specialized knowledge in classroom sessions, students of the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering actively participate in scientific research activities alongside the Faculty's teaching staff. Many students have published scientific papers in prestigious international conferences and journals while still pursuing their undergraduate studies.

Some of the products that students have contributed to building have significant practical implications, such as the traffic information system for Ho Chi Minh City(http://traffic.hcmut.edu.vn), Applications include guiding pedestrians through urban areas to avoid congested traffic points on Android (Road Maester app on Google Play), vehicle detection and counting in urban areas through traffic cameras, environmental monitoring systems in industrial zones, autonomous vehicle control applications, underwater robot control systems, large-scale data storage systems, and more.

STUDENT EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

The Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering regularly organizes professional activities and career-oriented events to provide students with opportunities to prepare the knowledge and skills necessary for their future careers. This dynamic approach enhances the students' learning environment and makes it more engaging. Annual events include Job Fair, Engineering Day, and specialized competitions such as Pascal's Descendants, CSE Hackathon. There are also seminars on new technologies and professional skills with the participation of the business community in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, students actively participate in social and professional activities within the university, such as joining the Green Summer Campaign, Spring Volunteer activities, etc.
